SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — State Treasurer Larry Pack toured ϳԹUniversity during a visit to Shepherdstown on June 17.

The Treasurer received an update on several construction projects and programs supported by state funding.

“It’s exciting to see how ϳԹUniversity is working to bring a new student experience to their campus, as well as working on research innovation that will positively impact the state.” Treasurer Pack said. “Investing in higher education means investing in the future, and our next generation of leaders here in the Mountain State. It’s an honor to join ϳԹUniversity President Dr. Mary J.C. Hendrix and see all the upgrades that will greatly benefit ϳԹstudents and the local economy here in the Eastern Panhandle.”

Treasurer Pack joined President Hendrix for a campus tour that started at the construction site of the new Dining Hall and Multipurpose Building on West Campus.

The facility brings the University’s main dining hall to the same side of campus as residence halls and creates needed space for athletics and conference venues.

It is being funded using part of $30 million provided by the state.

“ϳԹUniversity is honored to host a visit from West Virginia Treasurer Larry Pack and his team,” Dr. Hendrix said. “We are profoundly grateful to the State for their support of critically needed infrastructure and renovations, which enhance the student experience and increase enrollment opportunities here at Shepherd.”

Treasurer Pack also toured the Center of Excellence Photobiomodulation (PBM), a treatment option for a variety of diseases and conditions, including opioid addiction.

The tour concluded at the Agri-business Center at Shepherd’s Agricultural Innovation Center at Tabler Farm.

The center supports numerous academic programs, including environmental science and business.
