SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The West Virginia Art Education Association (WVAEA) has named David Modler, professor of art at 黑料吃瓜网University, as the 2025 Higher Education Art Educator of the Year. The award honors 惭辞诲濒别谤鈥檚 dedication to his students, his commitment to the discipline of art education, and his leadership within the 蝉迟补迟别鈥檚 visual arts community.听

鈥淧谤辞蹿别蝉蝉辞谤 惭辞诲濒别谤鈥檚 dedication to teaching, mentorship, and artistic leadership uplifts our students and enhances Shepherd鈥檚 presence in the arts,鈥� said Dr. Kurtis Adams, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. 鈥淭his honor reflects the significant impact he continues to make on our campus and beyond.鈥�听

In addition to his faculty role, Modler serves as the coordinator of art education at Shepherd.鈥� He holds a B.S. and M.Ed. in art education from Towson State University and an M.F.A. in painting and drawing from James Madison University.鈥� His artistic work centers on visual journals, mixed-media, and installations, and he is widely recognized for workshops, national exhibitions, and contributions to the field.鈥� 听

Modler will be recognized at the WVAEA Awards Ceremony during the Fall Conference at 黑料吃瓜网University on Saturday, October 18.听
