Parking Permits
Temporary Parking Permits
Visitors, vendors, or contractors can obtain a temporary parking permit at the SUPD offices. A valid driver’s license and current vehicle registration are required and must be presented when requesting a temporary parking permit. Parking lots are free on weekends and during breaks when the University is closed and students are not present.
Student Permits
Students receive decal permits to place in the rear window of their vehicle. Students may park in different lots on campus depending on the color of their decal. Student employees are permitted to park in the lots based on their parking decal only.
Blue Decal: Residential students living on campus. These decals permit parking in:
E Lot: Between Thatcher Hall and Butcher Center.
H-Lot: Between the suites of West Woods and the Apartments.
I-Lot:* In front of Printz and Dunlop Apartments
Red Decal: Students who commute to campus. These decals permit parking in:
A-Lot: Behind the Byrd Science Center and in front of White Hall.Ìý (High St. entrance and exit)
King Street:* Parking is prohibited at metered spaces and those reserved for admissions
C-Lot: Adjacent to K-Lot; Entrance from Rt. 480.
L-Lot: Entrance from King Street at Gardner; ONE WAY
F-Lot:* In front of the Frank Arts Center and Butcher Center.
G-Lot:** in front of the Frank Arts Center.
H-Lot: Between the Suites of West Woods and the Apartments.
K-Lot: Behind Erma Ora Byrd Hall.

Faculty/Staff Permits
Faculty and staff receive a hangtag permit to display while parked on campus.ÌýÌý This hangtag permits parking in:
B-Lot: Behind Ikenberry Hall and Scarborough Library. gated entrances from Princess and King Streets.
D-Lot
Celebrity Row: Between Thatcher and Shaw Halls.
J-Lot: In front of Butcher Center.
CCA II: In front of CCA II off ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøGrade Road.
G-Lot: In front of the Frank Arts Center/Suzanne Shipley Wellness Center.
H-Lot: Between the suites of West Woods and the Apartments.
Motorcycle Parking Permits
Student and employee-owned motorcycles are required to have a parking decal for the current academic year. Permit decals cost $70 ($35 after January 1) and must be affixed to the front windshield or front fork facing out. Apply for permits through the SUPD.
Bicycles/Electric Scooters on Campus
The ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøUniversity Police Department strongly recommends that you register your bicycle or electric scooter if you wish to bring one on campus.Ìý Register for free by completing the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøUniversity Ìý The SUPD will review your application and issue a decal to be affixed on the bike frame facing forward.
Event Parking
Football Game DayÌýParking & Tailgating

Sporting Events
Visitor vehicle registration is not required during the sporting events.
- Weekdays: Visitors may park in H-lot and G-lot, or the parking area around the soccer field.Ìý ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøUniversity employees and students are required to adhere to lot restrictions during weekday sporting events.
- Weekends: There are no lot restrictions during weekend sporting events. Universal parking regulations are enforced 24/7.
Non-Sporting Events
- Weekdays: Please register your vehicle with the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøUniversity Police Department unless otherwise noted in the event advertisement.
- Weekends: There are no lot restrictions in place for events on campus held on weekends. Universal parking regulations are enforced 24/7.
Lifelong Learning
The Lifelong Learning subscription includes the cost of a parking pass for all participants; however, you still MUST register your vehicle with the SUPD.ÌýBring your driver’s license and current vehicle registration to the SUPD office. They will have a list of individuals who have purchased a subscription. If you received a parking decal in the fall, you do not need a new one in the spring. Parking decals expire at the end of the school year.
Anyone taking single Lifelong Learning courses may register for a free guest pass that permits parking in the H Lot. Your guest pass is valid for the duration of your course. The EPTA bus will provide transportation to the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History in Education. Find the EPTA bus information and schedule here.
Wellness Center
Wellness Center parking permit applications and day passes are issued at the Wellness Center. Parking decals are to be hung from the rearview mirror and be clearly visible from the road.Ìý Wellness Center community member parking is permitted in G-lot non-faculty spaces.Ìý Please note signage.

Q. What if I only have temporary tags on my vehicle? |
A. A valid temporary registration (whether from the dealer or the DMV) may be used to register your vehicle.Ìý If a vehicle is registered with dealer tags, please stop by the police department once permanent registration is acquired so that your vehicle information may be updated. |
Q. How do I access temporary accommodations due to an illness or injury? |
A. Anyone requiring temporary accommodations as a result of surgery or injury who is not seeking accommodations through the DMV may visit www.shepherd.edu/accessibility, or email the accessibility office. |
Q. Where do high school dual enrollment students park? |
A. High School Dual Enrollment students may purchase a commuter decal for $70 ($35 after January 1st) which will last the academic year, or they may register for a free temporary semester parking pass.Ìý Commuter decals will permit the student to park in any commuter lot on campus; semester passes are restricted to H-lot. |
