Networks on campus
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøhas two Wi-Fi networks. They are SU Guest and RamNet.
- RamNet is the network for SU campus members. Once you connect a device, it should stay connnected.
- SU Guest is the network used if you are a visitor, or if you are part of the SU campus but cannot connect to RamNet for some reason. It requires registration every 24 hours in order to use it.
Instructions for connecting to Shepherd’s RamNet and SU Guest Wi-Fi networks are located on this page.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøalso has an Ethernet (wired) network in all residence hall rooms.
Most devices, such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops can use RamNet. Some cannot due to them being for the consumer market so cannot handle the required security protocols. These will need to be connected with an Ethernet cable.
To connect to the Ethernet network, install an Ethernet cable to connect between the wall jack and the Ethernet card on your device. If you have a browser on the device, bring it up and you should see a registration page. Enter the information and after it refreshes, you should be able to connect to the wired network. If you have any problems, see below.
If you are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi or wired networks, please send an email to itworkorder@shepherd.edu with the following information:
