Doctor of Philosophy Business Administration, with a concentration in Advanced Accounting – Northcentral University, 2017 Master of Business Administration – Shenandoah University, 1995 Bachelor of Science (Accounting and Economics) – ϳԹUniversity, 1988 Dr. Vance is the Accounting Head and full-time Associate Accounting Professor at ϳԹUniversity and a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Virginia. She teaches accounting courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. She has over 25 years experience in the accounting field in external audit, internal audit, and financial accounting, and managerial accounting. She has held controller positions in both the higher education and health-care industry. She received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Accounting and Economics from ϳԹUniversity in 1988, a Master of Business Administration degree from Shenandoah University in 1995, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration with a specialization in Advanced Accounting from Northcentral University in 2017. She is a summa cum laude graduate from the attended institutions, and a recipient of the McMurran Scholar award from ϳԹUniversity. Her research area is financial statement fraud. Her Ph.D. dissertation was titled, “The Effects of the Presence of Fraud and Auditor Certification Considering Professional Skepticism on Fraud Risk Assessment Performance”, which examined the effect of the presence of fraud and auditor attributes on fraud risk assessments. Dr. Vance serves on the following committees at ϳԹUniversity: Promotion & Tenure for the College of Business, Scholarship & Awards, and Faculty Senate. She is also the advisor of the ϳԹUniversity Accounting Club and an alumna of Phi Gamma Nu, professional business fraternity. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Delta Mu Delta international business honor society (Northcentral University), Phi Kappa Phi international multidisciplinary honor society (ϳԹUniversity), the ϳԹUniversity McMurran Scholar Advisory Board, and the ϳԹUniversity Alumni Association Board. |

Doctor of Philosophy Accounting – University of Malaya, Malaysia, 2014 Master of Accounting – Tarbiat Modares University, Iran, 2007 Bachelor of Accounting – IKIU, Iran, 2005 Dr. Vahid Biglari holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Malaya, an AACSB-accredited institution ranked among the top 100 globally, and he is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California. Prior to joining ϳԹUniversity, he held academic positions at the University of Newcastle Australia (Singapore campus), Henley Business School at the University of Reading Malaysia, and UCSI University. He also brings practical experience from the accounting and auditing industry. At Shepherd, Dr. Biglari teaches a range of accounting courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Advanced Cost Accounting, and Accounting Information Systems. He has actively contributed to curriculum development, integrating modern tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics, and QuickBooks into the classroom. He also serves on the Curriculum and Instruction Committee and provides academic advising to students. Dr. Biglari’s research interests lie in the intersection of technology and accounting, with a particular focus on Big Data applications in auditing, financial transparency, and human resource accounting. His work has been published in numerous international journals such as Asia-Pacific Financial Markets, Business: Theory and Practice, and Journal of Economics and International Finance. He has presented his research at various international conferences and serves as a peer reviewer for academic journals. Dr. Biglari is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA, UK) and a member of the American Accounting Association. He remains actively engaged in ongoing research and professional development. |

Master of Business Administration – Hood College, 1996 Bachelor of Science in Accounting – Mount St. Mary’s, 1989 Associate in Arts in Business Administration, 1987 Mr. Perry is a full-time accounting instructor at ϳԹUniversity. He has taught many accounting classes at the undergraduate and graduate level for other institutions. He has held accounting roles in public accounting and industry as Controller, Chief Financial Officer and President for a variety of companies. He is an active licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Maryland, maintains a small accounting practice and has served on the board of directors as Treasurer for several nonprofit organizations. |
