What is Brightspace Templates?
It is a course shell located on Brightspace that is intended to save faculty time by jumpstarting the design of Brightspace sites. It not only provides best practices to ensure students have a seamless experience navigating Brightspace, but also contains elements to engage and motivate students.
The site is continually updated to include new tools and interactive features. Below is a list of contents and a video tour.

Online Course Requirements and Training
To improve learning experiences for students and maintain consistency across programs,Ìý all OLA/OLS courses need to adopt the following four elements:
- New Content Experience turned on
- A Homepage Template with functional Start Here and Syllabus buttons
- An Introduction, Lesson Objectives, and Task list for each module
- A Visible Gradebook
While the training listed below target online faculty, I encourage all faculty to utilize the templates to efficiently upgrade Brightspace courses.
