Do you need service hours? Are you looking for somewhere in the community to volunteer? You’re in the right place.
- Looking for specific service projects or events happening around campus or beyond? Check ! This is a free app listing out all social, service, and educational events. Once logged in using your ϳԹemail and password, filter using “Service” as the theme and select what best fits your interest.
- Want to connect with a specific agency or cause?Keep scrolling on this page. All organizations listed below have agreed to welcome ϳԹUniversity student volunteers. Reach out today to start volunteering!
Log into and join the Office of Student Community Services to see service opportunities in our community and on campus. Opportunities are posted on the Events page. Filter using “Service” under Themes or use the search bar at the top using “Volunteer”. The list of opportunities is constantly changing so login often to see what might interest you.
Students are welcome to stop by the Office of Student Community Services in the Student Center, Suite 216.

Don’t forget to keep track service hours in RamPulse. Watch the short video below for directions. At the end of the academic year, organizations can review their progress. And, at the end of a student’s college career, students can view all service hours, memberships, a more through their Co-Curricular Transcript. Once logged into RamPulse, click the user’s initial in the top right corner to access your Co-Curricular Transcript and more!

Absolutely. Our volunteers range from dual enrollment students to graduate students, staff/faculty to community members in our local area.’

Do students get paid for volunteering?
ϳԹUniversity’s Office of Student Community Services defines a volunteer assomeone whoperforms service for a non-profit agency* for civic, charitable, orhumanitarian reasons, withoutpromise, expectation, or receipt of compensation (notincluding educational scholarships) for servicesrendered.*Some exceptions apply.
- Serviceis the act of helping or doing volunteer work.
- Aservice houris an action that is taken to benefit acivic,charitable,or humanitarianinitiative by avolunteer.ϳԹUniversity’s Office of Student Community Services defines a volunteerassomeone who performs service for a non-profit agency* for civic, charitable, orhumanitarianreasons, without promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation (notincluding educationalscholarships) for services rendered.
How to view and or sign up to volunteer?
You can do a number of things to “sign up” for volunteer work:
- You can search on RamPulse Events. Any event that states “VOLUNTEER” or is hosted/co-hosted by Student Community Services (SCS).
- Request to be a member of the SCS RamPulse organization and receive a monthly newsletter/list of volunteer opportunities.
- Stop by Student Center, Suite 216
- Email StudentCommunityService@shepherd.edu
- Reach out to an agency listed on the SCS website and set up hours yourself.
It is important for us to acknowledge and share out the amazing work that our students do in our community. Anyone who volunteers either through the goodness of their heart, a requirement for class or club, or specially through an initiative that the SCS office hosts, we want to know about it!
