黑料吃瓜网Environmental Organization (SEO) is a student organization designed 鈥渢o foster a better understanding of our place in the environment and how we can better care for this environment.鈥� For more information see the听SEO website.
Internships
Environmental Studies majors are encouraged to undertake an internship in which they apply their environmental background in a practical form, gain valuable workplace experience and conduct environmental research in an area of their choice. Students have worked in a wide variety of government agencies, industry and environmental organizations, and have produced materials used in interpretive brochures, scientific journals, and environmental education. Internships have included work at the National Park Service, Leetown Science Center, Mountain View Solar, LLC, Antietam National Battlefield, Blue Ridge Environmental Center, GAI Engineering, USDA Appalachian Fruit Research Station, The Capacon Institute, Skytruth, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Geostellar, Inc. The Institute of Environmental and Physical Sciences also offers opportunities for students to conduct independent research projects undertaken with supervision and mentoring by a 黑料吃瓜网University faculty member. All Environmental Studies majors are required to present their research at the Institute of Environmental and Physical Sciences Capstone Conference prior to graduating.

Student Portfolios
All graduating ENVS students are required to compile a portfolio 鈥� a representative collection of your work and courses taken during for your degree. There are many uses for the portfolio; the primary one is to showcase your work and development through the ENVS program. This provides prospective employers evidence of your knowledge and skills. Another important aspect is that the portfolio provides you with the knowledge, expectations, and type of skills the successful major should develop in the ENVS program. Additional purposes and the contents for the portfolio are included below.
One aspect that you should keep in mind about preparing the portfolio is that you should be prepared to discuss and answer questions about the items you include 鈥� especially, if you include these items in your CV. Enthusiasm and knowledge of what you have done is important to employers.
There are some requirements that may not be applicable to all students; for example, transfer students who may not have completed specific portfolio components completed in Dimensions classes. However, all components should complete as many of the components as applicable.
